Acoustills was founded by me, Sayontan Sinha, a Houston-based computer scientist, engineer and technophile.
But, at heart I am a storyteller. I love traveling for pleasure, and I love telling the story of the trip. Be it a journey to the Wimbledon, or to a safari in the Bushveld in Africa, or through the millennia of history in China – my trips are accompanied by a series of photos seamlessly tied to a story, which attempt to transport the reader to the place I was in.
In the journey to tell a story, I love picking up the skills required to present it beautifully. And the skills I have developed over the years have been rich and diverse, making me an amalgamation of a specialist, a dilettante and a polymath – not only can I sing, paint, play instruments and photograph, but I can also make drones, code, work wonders with media, and be your go-to person for a wide range of technical, artistic and esoteric requirements.
A Challenge & an Opportunity
The idea for Acoustills was formed a few years back, when I got frustrated with the quality of audio recording that the high-end phones offered, making the best singers sound pedestrian. I set about to build a miniature audio recording setup and production house, focused primarily on audio engineering.
Then, in 2020, COVID-19 happened. A combination of events put me face-to-face with a unique demand: Shreya Guhathakurta, a world-renowned singer based out of Houston needed an advanced A/V setup for streaming her performances in high quality; Durga Bari, a temple in Houston wanted to organize a festival in a virtual-only mode, and so on.
These have enabled me to learn more as well as put my skills to practice, and I have been able to reach a point where I am one of the de facto choices (often preferred over expensive professionals doing pro-bono work) for managing audio visual setup, recording and streaming for small to mid-size gatherings, of up to 500 people.
My Motivation
I am employed full-time at one of the world’s largest professional services firms completely unrelated to A/V production, and Acoustills was born out of a passion for me. As a result, the thrill of doing the job well is paramount to me. Consequently, the rates I charge are not just reasonable, but are surprisingly inexpensive.
Go ahead and engage me – I promise that you will not be disappointed.
